 The Omaha Restaurant Association was proud to be a Gold Plate Sponsor in Omaha’s first Restaurant Week. Thirty-seven restaurants in the Omaha metro area are participated in the inaugural Omaha Restaurant Week, which ran from September 16th – 25th, 2011. The annual event mirrors similar, successful restaurant weeks in large metropolitan areas such as Kansas City, Chicago and Denver.
Omaha Restaurant Week is a celebration of the unique, exciting culinary scene in the Omaha metro. Participating restaurants offer multi-course dinners at a fixed price of $19 or $29 per person. Patrons can select from their choice of appetizers, entrees and desserts. Many restaurants offered incredible values during this year’s promotion.
Restaurants that participate support the Food Bank for the Heartland. Sponsors of the 2011 promotion included Omaha Restaurant Association, Clear Channel Radio (KGOR 99.9 FM, News Radio 1110 KFAB, Twister 93.3, The Brew 96.1 and KAT 103), Omaha Magazine and Open Table. Many organizations ran contests relating to Omaha Restaurant Week, including Violet.com, which offered a $500 cash prize in their “Dish About Your Dish” contest. Local radio stations and other sponsors gave away thousands of dollars in gift cards to the participating restaurants.
Participating restaurants pay a participation fee that includes them in the Omaha Restaurant Week advertising package. The 2011 advertising package included hundreds of commercials on five different radio stations, a digital billboard on 72nd & Pacific, Youtube, Facebook, an iPhone ap, Omaha Magazine Dining Guide, email blasts to over 25,000 addresses in Omaha and live radio interviews with many of the chefs from the restaurants. Each participating restaurant had their own web page on the www.omaharestaurantweek.com site which received over 17,000 hits and 50,000 page views in September alone! Those participating restaurants that were also Open Table members received additional benefits of Open Table advertising to their audience of 6,000 Omaha-area foodies.
